JET OWNERSHIP VS. CHARTERING: MAKING THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR YOUR TRAVEL NEEDS

When you introduce jet ownership vs. chartering as a conversational topic, there are going to be differing views. Some individuals prefer the control offered by private jet ownership, while others choose the convenience of chartering. We welcome all private jets at Monmouth Jet Center, whether owned by charter companies, corporations, or private individuals. If you are unsure which option is best for your travel needs, we offer the following thoughts:

1. Cost Considerations: Initial Investment and Ongoing Expenses

The cost of private jet ownership is high, and the initial investment can run into millions of dollars depending on the type of jet you want, its features, capabilities, condition, and age. Then there are ongoing aviation-related expenses such as hangar space rental, inspections, fuel, maintenance, staffing, and more. If you decide to charter your plane out to recoup costs, you need to pay a management company to manage the process for you.

Depending on how often you fly, chartering a private jet can be a cost-effective option that can cost anywhere from $3,500 to $18,000 per hour depending on where you’re going, and the type of aircraft and crew required. This is ideal for anyone flying once and a while, that wants to avoid all the costs that come with Jet ownership.

2. Flexibility and Convenience: Availability and Scheduling

Private jet ownership costs might be counterbalanced by the convenience of travelling at your will. Although charter companies try to accommodate their client’s preferences, it doesn’t allow for the same conveniences as ownership. You might have to fly to your destination on a smaller private jet or at a time that does not fit your preferred schedule.

3. Maintenance and Management Responsibilities

Private jet ownership does come with management responsibilities. If you are able, you can hire a private aircraft management company that will handle all the essentials for you. If outsourcing the management is not an option you will have to handle all maintenance and management yourself, which can be timely and costly. When chartering a private jet from a reliable company, all you have to do is enjoy the flight.

 4. Privacy and Customization

The privacy offered by jet ownership is often non-negotiable for celebrities and other VIPs. With private jet chartering services, you might have to share the cabin with others unless you pay for the privilege of flying alone. We take privacy very seriously at Monmouth Jet Centre and practice comprehensive access control. If you own a private jet you can customise it however you want, if you travel mostly for business you could include a workspace.

Accessibility to a Diverse Fleet and Destinations

One of the benefits chartering has over private jet ownership is accessibility to a diverse fleet. You can charter a small single-engine jet for a weekend in Cape Cod or a larger private jet for a luxurious skiing holiday anywhere in the world. Although the destinations to which a privately owned jet can travel are only restricted by its range and fuel capacity, landing at small airports might be problematic.

We want to be your airport of choice, whatever you decide regarding jet ownership vs chartering. If you have any questions, please contact our team at Monmouth Jet Center today. We look forward to hearing from you.

4. Comprehensive Safety Protocols and Procedures

At Monmouth Jet Center, we adhere strictly to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) safety protocols and procedures, including their runway safety program and comprehensive access control. We also follow relevant runway safety maintenance schedules to clean our runways, removing any debris placing aircraft at risk.

For Winter safety precautions, we offer 24-hour de-icing services to promote safety during take-off, as our truck is capable of dispensing type 1 and 4 Glycol to small, mid, and large size aircraft.

5. Ongoing Safety Training and Continuous Improvement

AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE: TIPS FROM MECHANICS TO KEEP YOUR AIRPLANE SAFE

Keeping your airplane in top working condition is essential, which means you need to invest in regular aircraft maintenance. Routine maintenance ensures your aircraft is safe, operating properly, and helps detect and prevent any potential issues before they turn into larger and potentially dangerous problems. Our aircraft mechanics share their top tips to keep your airplane safe.

Carefully Preflight Carb Heat

If you’re flying an aircraft that has a carbureted engine you’ll add carb heat while you’re warming up your plane. Be sure that the temperature is rising slowly, and be sure the carb heat door closes properly. During the winter season, carb heat will clear out any ice that’s present.

Power Adjustments

Despite its size and seemingly hardy appearance, your aircraft engine is delicate and you should always handle it with care. This includes making gentle power adjustments instead of aggressively jamming the power in and out. Always use a firm, smooth hand when making power adjustments because this keeps your engine in optimal health and prevents dramatic changes in engine temperature.

Consistent Oil Changes

Just as you do with a car, your aircraft’s engine needs regular oil changes. Changing the oil consistently keeps your engine clean and running smoothly, and it can ensure your engine lasts as long as it should. Your oil change frequency will depend on the type of aircraft you have and how often you fly, but our mechanics can advise you.

Aircraft Maintenance at Monmouth Jet Center

Investing in routine aircraft maintenance is an essential part of being a responsible aircraft owner. Safety is of the utmost importance and our team of experienced aircraft mechanics will keep your aircraft in the best condition possible so you’re always ready to fly. Whether it’s regular maintenance, upkeep, or repairs our team can handle it all.

For more information about essential aircraft maintenance needed to keep your airplane safe, or if you have any questions, please contact our team at Monmouth Jet Center today. We look forward to hearing from you.

WHY PRIVATE JETS ARE A TOP CHOICE FOR CEOS

Traveling on a private jet isn’t as exclusive as it was several decades ago. Yes, private jets provide a level of comfort, luxury, and convenience that commercial flights don’t, however many CEOs now opt to travel via private jet because it’s the best choice for their busy lifestyle.

At Monmouth Jet Center our facilities are designed to accommodate private jets, including the pilots and the passengers. Whether you have your own jet and you need a hangar while you’re in town, or you want to charter a private jet, you’ll find what you need at Monmouth. You and your guests can enjoy our passenger lounge that includes free Wi-Fi, catering services, concierge services, televisions, car and taxi services, and more.

Private Jets Provide Comfort

There’s no denying that private jets are more comfortable than commercial flights. Most private jets are equipt with comfortable  lounge like chairs, making it easy to catch up on sleep. Or for busy CEOs who are often jetting from one location to the next, private jets also offer a valuable level of privacy to catch up on work, prepare for your next meeting, or enjoy a delicious meal.

A Healthier Way to Fly

If you’ve ever tried to sleep on a commercial flight then you know it can be close to impossible, especially on a day time flight. Many CEOs report being sleep-deprived throughout their careers, and sleep deprivation can lead to serious health problems like stress, anxiety, heart attacks, and even strokes. Plus, everyone needs to get adequate sleep in order to perform their duties to the best of their ability. Private jets allow busy CEOs to catch up on their sleep without interruptions, ensuring they’re fresh and ready upon landing.

Efficient Time Management

When you fly via a commercial airport you’re running the risk of encountering delays, cancellations, and other inconveniences. For CEOs who travel frequently for business, it’s critical that they get where they need to be, instead of being stuck at an airport with no ETA. Private jets allow CEOs to manage their time efficiently because there’s no worrying about airport security, getting to the gate on time and airport delays or cancellations. Time is valuable, and for busy business people, managing their time efficiently is paramount. With a private charter, you can often drive right up to your jet and take off!

Private Jets Impress Clients

You’re guaranteed to make an excellent first impression when you fly private with your clients! As you can see, private jets are a top choice for CEOs and beyond. If you’d like to learn more, or if you have any questions, please contact our team at Monmouth Jet Center today.

Discover how luxurious private jet travel can be for both you and your clients. We look forward to hearing from you.

FRACTIONAL JET OWNERSHIP

Perhaps you’ve always dreamed of owning a private jet, but the reality is it’s simply too expensive. For the vast majority of people the cost of owning a private jet is prohibitive, but that doesn’t mean your dream has to be out of reach. Things like fractional jet ownership, private jet charters, and private jet memberships are becoming more popular as people realize that they can use private jets without paying the full cost to own one.

Fractional Jet Ownership

Similar to shared ownership for a home, fractional jet ownership is an arrangement created by several people who agree to share the costs of owning, operating, and maintaining an aircraft. Rather than singular ownership where the aircraft sits in storage for months on end, pitching in and sharing with a group makes it more affordable and also ensures the aircraft is used more frequently. It’s a great solution for everyone.

Cost & Flight Time

Each fractional owner will have a specified number of hours that they can use the aircraft either each month or each year. If everyone owns equal shares in the aircraft then the hours will be split evenly. However, if someone purchases more shares than the other owners, they may be granted more hours due to them owning a larger percentage of the aircraft.

The typical costs include:

  • The capital or acquisition fee
  • Monthly maintenance fee
  • Occupied hour fee
  • Other associated costs, like a monthly management or storage fee

The costs depend on what type of aircraft you want to jointly own, so please contact our team who can help you understand which costs are associated with which aircraft.

Benefits

  • Privacy and convenience: Flying via commercial airports is stressful and you’re often subjected to cancellations and delays. Fractional jet ownership allows you to enjoy the privacy and convenience of flying private without being responsible for the full cost.
  • Flexible availability: Last-minute change of plans or taking a trip with short notice won’t be a problem when you jointly own an aircraft. Buying a plane ticket at short notice isn’t always guaranteed because of availability, and last-minute tickets for commercial flights are extremely pricey.
  • Tax deductions: When you own an aircraft, even if you own it jointly, you might be able to claim depreciation deductions on your federal tax return.

Alternative options

Chartering: Private jet charter is always an option, and while it may cost you more upfront, you won’t incur any of the costs associated with being a fractional aircraft owner. You can charter a private jet through a broker or contact us to learn more.

Private jet memberships: A private jet membership allows people to access private jets by paying a monthly membership fee. If you fly often but don’t want to purchase shares of an aircraft, a private jet membership is an ideal option for you.

For more information about fractional jet ownership, or if you have any questions, please contact our team at Monmouth Jet Center today. Discover why so many people come to us when they have questions about sharing the cost of a private jet. We look forward to hearing from you.
