Essential Etiquette Tips For Flying By Private Aircraft

Flying by private jet is a truly unique experience and nothing like commercial air travel, and this can leave first-time flyers a little unsure of what is expected of them as guests. Here’s a quick etiquette guide to help you look and feel like an experienced private traveler, and make the trip even better, from Monmouth Executive Airport.

  1. Have your ID documents ready: One of the best things about private air travel is that you have the luxury of skipping all the security lines, but you will still need to identify yourself as the right person on the client list. Your regular ID (driver’s license, for example) is fine for local flights, while international flights will require a valid passport.
  2. Host boards first: If you are travelling as part of a group and a guest of a company or private individual, it’s good manners to let your host board first.
  3. Know your luggage limit: The amount of luggage a private aircraft can carry is dependent on its size, and that means guests have certain baggage restrictions. If you are travelling alone, you can fit the maximum amount of luggage but it’s generally a good idea to pack the minimum advised by the jet company. Soft bags are ideal as they pack easily into the luggage compartment.
  4. Follow pet guidelines: Pets are welcome on private aircraft and are treated just like any other guest on board, but it’s important to speak to your provider and confirm that you will have a pet with you. They will give you advice on how to prepare your pet for travel, and ask you questions about what kind of food and treats they can provide for your furry companion. This makes your trip as special for your pet as it is for you.
  5. Dress the part: While there are no hard and fast rules about dressing for a private flight, it is important to show the appropriate amount of respect for this exclusive service and for your host. Generally, business wear is correct when flying you’re your company, and business-casual is a good default choice for other occasions.
  6. Running late? Let your crew know: Flying by private aircraft means the crew is at your service and ready to go when you are, but it’s polite to keep them informed about your schedule. If something changes, they can react quickly and mobilize crew and airport services to ensure you are in the air as soon as possible after you arrive at the airport.

Helicopter Hangars, Aircraft Hangars And Ground Support Buildings For Sale Or Hire

Private airports perform a pivotal role in the airline industry, not only providing a safe and reliable means to access uncrowded airspace for charter aircraft and pilots, but also ensuring access to high-quality FBO services and aircraft storage options. At Monmouth Executive Airport in New Jersey, we’ve seen the lack of adequate storage facilities in the region and, as a result, have opened up vast tracts of land for the development of hangar space.

The challenge: Standard and custom hangar space for sale and hire in NJ

The tristate area is one of the busiest in the private airline industry, feeding the commercial hubs of New York City, New Jersey and Philadelphia. In addition to this traffic generated by charter companies, there are also a multitude of private flying enthusiasts with their individually owned prop airplanes, helicopters and private jets keen to take to the skies. As a result, hangar space is at a premium in this region – making it rarely available and expensive.

Monmouth Airport is offering a real solution to this challenge by offering the following hangar space for hire in New Jersey or to buy:

  • Prebuilt T-hangars – Ideal for charter operators or private owners, these offer the option of attached office space and easy taxi to either of the two runways.
  • Prebuilt shared or communal hangars – An affordable option for pilots looking for a budget-friendly solution that keeps their aircraft out of the weather and makes maintenance and storage easy.
  • Custom hangar space – An option that’s designed for owners and charter companies with particular needs: we’re offering you the chance to have your aircraft hangar built exactly to your specifications.

Store your aircraft with convenient, affordable aircraft hangars in NJ

If you are considering flying out of New Jersey, Monmouth Executive Airport – just 20 minutes to Manhattan by helicopter – offers everything pilots and charter companies require. This offering includes high quality, competitively priced fuel rates, aircraft maintenance services and hangar space in New Jersey – available immediately. How To Prepare Your Aircraft For Winter

Winter is on its way, and along with the fun of the festive season it’s also bringing sleet, snow and ice – none of which are great news for aircraft owners, pilots or charter companies! Prepping your aircraft and storing them correctly are key to making the most of this season as well as reducing repairs and maintenance.

Aircraft maintenance and storage tips from Monmouth Executive Airport

  • Change your oil: Winter is the perfect time to change your oil, removing old oil that is filled with dirt and contaminants. When you do this, be sure to use a preservative oil mixture (one quart of preservative oil is recommended). After doing this, take a quick flight to make sure the engine becomes well-lubricated with the new mixture.
  • Check the sparkplugs: Remove your sparkplugs and spray the fitting with a preservative oil mixture before putting them back into place.
  • Fill your tanks: Even though you won’t be using your aircraft for a while, filling up your fuel tanks to capacity is a good idea. This reduces the moisture that can condense within your tank if it is only partially fuel, and minimizes cracking in flexible rubber tanks. The fuel will easily last the winter, as quality fuel is good for at least a year.
  • Remove your battery: If you’re not going to be flying much this winter, now’s a good time to remove your battery as it likely won’t hold charge while in storage. Store the battery in a safe location out of the cold. You can also hook up your battery to a trickle-charger every few weeks to maintain the charge and keep the battery in good working condition.
  • Critter-proofing: Mice, rats and other small animals will see your aircraft and hangar as a good place to hide out from the bad weather, and they can cause considerable mess and damage to your aircraft. No food should be left in the vicinity and all holes should be securely plugged. Pitot tube covers and vent covers are essential.

Hangar space keeps your aircraft in top condition – Available now

Finding hangar space is a challenge anywhere in the country, but our offering of competitively priced custom aircraft hangars and aircraft storage options along with our central location, makes us a real alternative to the crowded airports of Teterboro and Morristown. Through our world-class amenities, aircraft maintenance, hangars and services, we offer private clients an exceptional flying experience.

The Right Time To Become A Professional Pilot Is Right Now

Whether you’re fresh out of school or college, or midway through a career, if you have a love of flying and a dream of being a professional pilot, there’s no time better than now to take that leap. Here’s why.

Firstly, the demand for professional pilots is very high at the moment. The aviation industry is growing; many regional airlines are being granted new contracts from mainline carriers, and private charter companies are experiencing a growth spurt as the private airline industry experiences record levels of demand. This means that they are actively looking for pilots and crew to make this growth a reality and meet contractual demands.

Secondly, many of the current pilots active in the industry are facing retirement in the next 10 years – in fact, these numbers are set to peak at very high levels, which means that less senior pilots have a chance to move up the career ladder – and new pilots have plenty of space to enter the industry. And the numbers back this up, with over 33,200 pilots expected to retire by 2030.

If you’re worried about being stuck on the bottom rungs, however, you can put that to rest thanks to the popularization of effective flow programs in most mainline commercial airline companies. These programs are designed to assist you in your career, ensuring that you are positioned in a regional carrier as first officer for 2-3 years before being moved up to captain for another 1-2 years, at which point you will be interviewed for positions at the mainline carrier.

Pay was one of the main concerns in the industry, as low pay pushed many pilots into other career paths and away from being a pilot. However, as the industry experiences a growth spurt and demand for pilots increases, the pay has gone up to far more acceptable levels including sign-on bonuses and other financial incentives.

Expanding Your Fleet? Find A Private Airport In NJ That Can Accommodate You

Private jet charter flights and flying by private jet is one of the fastest-growing industries in the USA. So, it’s no surprise that new charter companies are forming and established ones are looking to grow. But to grow, you need the right space and facilities to support your business and your clients. Monmouth Executive Airport has the solution.

• Room to grow

Many major airports in the USA are surrounded by the cities in which they are located. So, they are finding that room to expand is severely limited. This makes them unable to meet the demands for expansion without incurring a massive cost. In contrast, Monmouth Airport is located outside of the city limits while still a convenient drive or helicopter ride from Downtown Manhattan. As such, we have hectares of land open for development. We are focused on building hangar space and developing world-class facilities in line with client and charter company expectations.

We have private, communal and t-hangars available for immediate use. These can be either rented or purchased at competitive rates. We also have affordable development plans for you to custom build your hangar to your exact specifications.

• Affordable aviation fuel programs

Making Monmouth Airport a travel hub for the tri-state area is even easier with our well-priced aviation fuel. We offer both Jet-A and Avfuel 100 at rates that are competitive with or at lower rates than alternative airports, including Morristown and Teterboro. Volume fuel and self-service discounts are offered through our loyalty program.

• Whatever your jet, we can handle it

Room to build custom aircraft hangars with office space and aviation fuel discounts are great positives to partnering with Monmouth Airport. But that means nothing if your jets can’t land or take off safely. Fortunately, we have a solution there too. Our main runway clocks in at 7,300 feet: the longest runway of any private airport in the country. It can accommodate almost all classes of jets with ease. We also have a long secondary runway at 3,500 feet for smaller aircraft and reduced air traffic.

• The sky is the limit when your charter company partners with us

In addition to our competitively priced hangars and aircraft hangar packages, we also offer private owners and charter companies world-class support and FBO services. From lavatory servicing, de-icing services, and fuel loyalty programs to our well-appointed waiting lounge and concierge services, we strive to offer pilots, crews, and passengers a truly high-quality experience.

Tips To Help Your Pilot Training Go Faster And Cost Less

Whether you want to build a career as a pilot or learn to fly to fulfill a lifelong dream, one thing is for certain – you must have the right finances in place to access the training you need and get in the sky as soon as possible. Here are some tips from Monmouth Executive Airport in NJ on how to make flying lessons more affordable and get your license faster:

• Do your research:

Like colleges and other learning institutions, flight schools offer their courses at different rates. However, this doesn’t mean that you should just go for the cheapest option in your area. After all, you want to make sure that you have access to properly qualified instructors in well-maintained aircraft – and that costs money.

Instead, choose a school with:
o A proven record in flight training,
o A course that fits your timeline, and
o Value-for-money training.

• Dedicate your time:

One way of speeding up the training program is to increase the frequency of your flights and dedicate as much of your time as possible to the training. Working at the same time may seem like a great option but it comes with a cost: less flexibility means less flying, and that means more time recapping previous flights and relearning lessons that have been forgotten due to long breaks between flights.

• Rehearse:

Sitting at a desk? Take some time each day to sit back and think about the lessons you’ve learned, the position of instruments in the cockpit and run through the motions of your previous lessons. This helps to familiarize you with the techniques you’re learning, which is key to feeling more comfortable more quickly in the cockpit. It gives you more time to learn new things in your lessons rather than recapping old lessons.

• Write down your questions:

Arrive home from a lesson and thought of a question you’d like to ask your instructor? Write it down. Instructors appreciate this level of interest and learning. Taking the time to go over questions at the next lesson will help you prepare properly for your test day.

• Get finance:

Many financial institutions offer incentives to students in the forms of loans to help you achieve your qualifications – pilot courses are no different. There are dedicated flight training finance programs that trainees can apply for that make the course more affordable. But, be sure to evaluate all your options to ensure that you get the best payment plan possible.

How To Become A Certified Flight Instructor

For people who love to fly, there’s nothing better than finding a career that pays you to spend your time above the clouds – but that doesn’t necessarily mean becoming a commercial or private pilot. A career as a flight instructor can be incredibly rewarding as you help people discover their full potential and love of flying. Here’s some advice from Monmouth Executive Airport’s flight school in NJ.
Requirements for a career as a certified flight instructor
First, you have to have a valid private pilot certificate from a recognized Part 61 or Part 141 flight school. After that, you have to successfully pass the Fundamentals of Instructing (FOI) and Flight Instructor FAA Knowledge Test, and the accompanying Practical Test (consisting of an oral exam and flight test).
There are three courses you can enroll in:

• The CFI Certification Course – Basic flight instructor certification.
• The CFI – I Certification Course – Instrument Rating Course.
• The CFI – ME Course – Multi-Engine Rating Course.
One of the biggest obstacles for pilots interested in becoming flight instructors is the idea that these courses take years to achieve – but it isn’t true. Most pilots complete their training in 34-45 hours, including flight training, ground training and pre-post flight briefings.
Why become a CFI?
There are many reasons why pilots decide to become CFIs, but the most popular reason by far is to share an enthusiasm for flying with others. It is also a great way to increase your flying hours if you are aiming for a commercial pilot’s license. Many pilots also choose this career because it offers easier scheduling and hours that have less impact on family life. Whatever your reasons, being a CFI is a rewarding career choice for anyone who loves to fly.
Start your journey towards a CFI with flying lessons at Monmouth Executive Airport in NJ
When it comes to choosing from the best flight schools in New Jersey, experience is everything. Our school has over 20 years of pilot training experience in training professional and amateur pilots in a range of 10 different aircraft, as well as logging over 68 000 flight instruction and rental hours.
We have our own FAA certified A&P/IA on premises and our location outside of the crowded New York area airspace designations means that you get to enjoy scenic open skies as you learn to fly.

Private Or Commercial Airports– What's Best For Hangar Space For Your Jet?

Finding the right location for storing your aircraft is no simple task – overlooked by many first-time buyers, storage options often come last on the list. With several options including aircraft hangar space at both large commercial airports and private airports, aircraft owners can struggle to find the right fit for their aircraft and their budget. Here are some helpful tips from Monmouth Executive Airport.
  • Commercial airports mean heavy traffic: Commercial airports are important transportation hubs, so crowded airspace and busy roads at all times of the day and night should be expected. While this doesn’t relate to aircraft storage directly, it does impact on your aircraft use. Additional hours of travel and delays on the tarmac are a huge inconvenience, whether you are flying for your own pleasure or running a charter service.
  • Space is at a premium: Aircraft storage space can be a struggle to find and expensive when you do find it. In a worst-case scenario, your investment could end up crowded into a communal hangar or tied down on the tarmac to face the harshest elements. Weather and wind damage mean more maintenance and repairs more often, which can cost you in the long run.
  • Distance from your location: Finding affordable aircraft storage can mean travelling far from home, which means less time flying and more time on the road. It is also not ideal for charter services, as clients are less likely to want to travel far to get to the airport.
Monmouth Executive Airport in New Jersey has affordable hangar space
Located outside of crowded Class B airspace, Monmouth Airport is still just a quick hour’s drive by car (or 20 minutes by helicopter) to the center of Manhattan, making us a real alternative to congested New York City, Philadelphia and Jersey Shore gateway airports.
As part of our expansion and development plan, we’ve opened up space to meet the demands of private pilots and charter companies for affordable, high quality aircraft hangar space. In addition to communal hangar space, we also offer T-hangars, options for custom build hangars and flight office space. Our FBO services and aircraft maintenance services have been upgraded to match this world-class offering, including the supply of fuel at competitive or cheaper rates than competitors in the region.

Travelling With Your Pet – Commercial VS. Private Airports

For many of us, our pets are part of our family, and we want to bring them with us on vacation and share the excitement of travel with them. However, flying commercially with your pet is very different to using a private aircraft – here are some insights from Monmouth Executive Airport in New Jersey.
Flying on a commercial airliner with your pet
  • Paperwork: Your pet needs to be 8 weeks or older and have all required vet vaccinations up-to-date, complete with paperwork. Rabies vaccinations are compulsory, while some airlines also require parvo vaccination certificates.
  • Tickets: Each airline has different booking requirements for pets, so it is important to call ahead and find out exactly what you need to do. Some require fees for travel in the form of a ticket, while others are weighed on-site and dropped off at a specific airport location up to a few hours before your flight.
  • Travel housing: Because your pet will be travelling in a pressurized hold, you will be required to house your pet in a travel kennel that meets certain size specifications. Some airlines also require a food and water supply in the crate. Some airlines will, however, allow you to keep your crated pet in the cabin with you – but only if there is space.
  • Travel experience: Pets are generally separated from their owners and from before they board the aircraft, as they are loaded by staff into the pressurized hold. While every precaution is taken, there have been instances where pets have been left in harsh environmental conditions out on the tarmac while flight delays and other issues are solved. They cannot be monitored properly during the flight and the noise of the experience itself can be very stressful for even the most well-adjusted pets.
Private jet travel with pets
Flying with a pet from a private airport like Monmouth Executive Airport where we offer world-class FBO services and amenities is a very different experience, both for you and your furry friend. Private jet companies are happy to go above and beyond for all their clients – and this includes pets. Although the same vaccine and health requirements are in place when you fly privately, the similarities stop there.
Simply notify the charter company that your pet will be accompanying you and they will do everything they can to accommodate them in comfort, from keeping your pet with you in the cabin to planning specific meals and treats for your pet. Leashes are important for safety purposes on the tarmac, and crates are advisable for smaller pets to ensure their safety during takeoff and landing, but you will always be in close contact with your pet to keep them calm, happy and enjoying their flight.

3 REASONS TO INVEST IN HANGAR SPACE IN NJ THIS NEW YEAR

It’s the beginning of 2017 and this means it’s the perfect time to take advantage of our new opportunities and invest in hangar space for your aircraft. Find out why from Monmouth Executive Airport and Jetport.
  1. New investment opportunities: The New Year is a great time for businesses and individuals to create new opportunities and make positive changes – and that goes for private airports as well as everyone else. At Monmouth Airport, we’re opening significant acreage for development, including the building and leasing of aircraft hangar space – some of which is already available.
  2. Better variety of options: Finding hangar space is no longer a matter of taking what you can get, when you can get it. Thanks to our new development strategy, private owners and charter companies can utilize hangar space in a way that suits them – all at a competitive rate and available immediately. With hangar space for rent or purchase, as well as a range of t-hangars, communal hangar space and hangars with attached office space, you have different options at your fingertips. In addition, we’re offering the opportunity to also develop custom hangar space that is built according to your exact specifications.
  3. Save money: An aircraft is a significant cost and simply using a tie down and letting it face the harsh elements head on is not maximizing your investment. Not only can your aircraft be damaged by freezing temperatures, wind, storms, sunshine and hail, outdoor aircraft also suffer from more frequent repair and maintenance issues. They usually have to be moved off-site or into a working hangar to get necessary repairs done, while housed aircraft can be worked on in all weather conditions easily and conveniently.
