LEARNING TO FLY IN YOUR GOLDEN YEARS

Are you a senior who’s interested in learning to fly? If you’re retired and enjoying your golden years then you have the time and the freedom to pursue new hobbies and interests. Learning new things is a great way to stay active, engage your curiosity, and potentially discover a new passion!

People of all ages dream of learning to fly, and you’ll be pleased to know there is no age limit for taking flying lessons. At Monmouth Jet Center, we have students of all ages, and our students who learn to fly later in life find it incredibly rewarding. If you’re approaching your retirement and have always been curious about taking flying lessons, contact us today to get started!

Why learn to fly as a senior citizen?

    • You have more free time. When you’re younger most of your time is taken up by school and work, leaving you little to no time to explore new hobbies and interests. One of the many benefits of retirement is that you have more free time, and your golden years are ideal for setting off on new adventures like flying lessons.
    • Learning new things helps your mind stay young. While it doesn’t stop the clock, taking flying lessons is a great way to engage your brain in a new activity. Just as you need to exercise your body to keep it in good shape, the same is true of your brain. Learning something new like flying is a great way to stimulate your mind and strengthen cognitive function.
    • You have more disposable income. You’ve spent decades working hard, you’ve saved up some money, and your kids are grown and out of the house. Now it’s time to spend your money on yourself and try the things you’ve always wanted to do!
    • Monmouth Flight School has been successfully teaching people how to fly since 1993! Because Monmouth Airport sits just outside of crowded New York area airspace designations, it is one of the most relaxed and safe environments you will find in the Tri-state area to pursue your dream of learning to fly. We’ve taught every conceivable type, size, and age of person to fly over the last 20 years, and you better believe we can teach you too!

If you’d like to know more about how seniors can learn to fly at Monmouth Jet Center, or if you have any questions about our executive airport in New Jersey, please contact our team today. You’re never too old to spread your wings and fly with us.

JET SERVICE AND HANGAR SPACE – RENT OR BUILD?

If you’re in the market for aircraft hangar space then you have several options: renting, buying, or building. Your aircraft is a big investment and having a safe place to store it is essential. In this article, our NJ team at Monmouth Jet Center explores the various options available to you when it comes to acquiring hangar space.

Investor owned or leased?

If you want to invest in your own aircraft hangar, you always have the option to lease it when you’re not using it. Many investors negotiate ground leases with local aircraft owners who need hangar space. And at smaller airports like Monmouth Jet Center, you’ll never have to put your name on a waiting list or wonder if there will be space for your aircraft.

Advantages of owning a hangar

When you own a private hangar you can customize it to your exact specifications. You’ll never need to negotiate any hangar leases or worry about finding hangar space to rent, and you’ll have the peace of mind that comes from knowing your aircraft is completely secure. Another advantage of owning a hangar is you always have the option to rent it out in the future, earning you extra income.

The cost of building your own facility

Costs vary depending on your needs, but as a general rule, you can expect to spend $22 per square foot when building a custom aircraft hangar. It’s important to understand that when you build your own facility, you will technically own the hangar, but you’ll still be leasing the ground it’s built on. You’ll also be responsible for insurance costs, maintenance costs, repairs, and any upgrades you decide on.

The benefits of leasing space

Leasing can be a convenient option if you aren’t ready for the responsibility of owning your own hangar. Each airport has its own terms and conditions with ground leases, and at Monmouth we do our best to accommodate your needs and your schedule.

If you’d like to know more about renting or building custom hangar space, or if you have any questions about our airport, please contact our team at Monmouth Jet Center today. We look forward to hearing from you.
