WHY ARE PRIVATE JETS WHITE?

At Monmouth Executive Airport we see our fair share of private jets on a daily basis, and while the interior of each jet is unique, you’ll notice the exteriors of most private jets are white. Have you ever wondered why? Our team did some research and uncovered several interesting reasons:

White paint shows up easily in the sky, whether it’s day or night.

If you’ve ever seen stealth military planes then you’ve probably noticed they are often painted deep, darker colors like black, green, and even camouflage. This is because they don’t want to be seen. But with private jets it’s quite the opposite – they want to be as visible as possible in the sky, and bright white paint ensures they are!

It reflects sunlight and keeps cabins cooler.

White paint reflects nearly all the rays of sun that touch it, while colored paints absorb them. Keeping the cabin of an aircraft cool is important, especially in hotter climates and especially when an aircraft is sitting on a runway for an extended period of time.

Company logos are most visible against white paint.

Not all private jets are emblazoned with logos. However, for those that are, the logo shows up brilliantly even at a distance against a white background.

White paint fades more slowly than other colors.

Just like paint on a car fades quickly when exposed to the elements, so does paint on a private jet. While all aircrafts need regular maintenance, you’ll get more wear out of white paint than other colors.

It’s the most affordable option.

Due to popularity and ubiquitousness, white aircraft paint is usually the most cost-effective choice.

White private jets have a higher resale value.

It’s much more affordable to touch-up a white paint job than it is to re-paint an entire private jet, which can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.

ELECTRIC AIRCRAFTS – THE FUTURE OF AVIATION

We all want to do our part to make environmentally friendly choices, and businesses are now under more pressure to take drastic steps to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. Unfortunately, both private jets and commercial aircrafts are completely powered by carbon-based fuels right now. However, stricter industry regulations plus a decline in natural resources means alternatives are needed. This is where the electric aircraft comes in. How do electric aircrafts work exactly, and are we likely to see commercial electric flights in our lifetime?

How does an electric aircraft work?

Electric aircrafts are powered by all-electric motors and batteries. This means they use no fuel and release no harmful greenhouse gas emissions. Despite this, the capabilities of electric aircrafts cannot currently meet the requirements of commercial use. So far, electric-powered flights have taken place in small, two-seater planes and have flown non-stop for around 300 miles. With that said, this accomplishment should not be diminished! It was an incredible feat and a first of its kind for the aviation industry, and researchers are hard at work developing the technology necessary for commercial application.

What does the future look like for electric aircrafts?

Better, stronger, more powerful batteries are the key to successful commercial electric aircrafts. Think about how quickly your cell phone battery depletes throughout the day, often requiring you to charge it multiple times, and imagine how powerful a battery would need to be to keep an entire aircraft up in the air.

The public’s perceptions around safety and security of electric aircrafts will also need to be addressed. Similar to how people were skeptical of electric cars when they first came on the market, the thought of hopping on a battery-powered flight might make some people nervous.

Electric aircrafts and Monmouth Airport

While it might be a decade or so until we see an electric commercial flight, it may be sooner for smaller aircrafts like private jets and charter planes. We’ve already seen several smaller electric aircrafts make safe and successful journeys, so for those who want to reduce their environmental footprints without cutting down on air travel and for those who fly frequently, electric aircrafts may be the answer.

At Monmouth Executive Airport we’re following the latest industry developments and are eager to embrace the technology that allows us to offer cleaner, affordable options to flying enthusiasts. For more information about Monmouth Executive Airport, or if you have any questions about custom hangar space or aircraft maintenance, please contact our team today.

WHY YOU SHOULD RENT AN AIRPLANE HANGAR FOR YOUR NEXT EVENT

An airplane hangar is a big room for an airplane sure, but it turns out that hangars at Monmouth Jet Center have a secret life. They are often rented out when someone needs a huge space for an event. Need space for 500 or more people at your wedding? You might be a candidate. Need to build an indoor set for your next, hit indie film? We got you covered. A rehearsal space for your concert tour? Been there, done that…. Even the Boss himself has spent some time brushing up in one of our hangars before hitting the stage! If you’re not yet convinced, here are more reasons to consider MJC hangars for your next big event.

Photo & video shoots that take off

Since by definition, hangars are on airports, there’s a bunch of cool, built-in settings available at an airport including all kinds of photogenic planes and jets. And did you know that these planes and jets land on the longest private runway in the country? To have an exclusive and seemingly endless runway as the backdrop for your next big music video, or photo shoot – I’m not sure if another setting can even come close. Throw on a flowing dress, let your hair down and you’re ready to take off!

Wedding venue for the unconventional bride

Finding the right venue is a challenge for every bride, especially the bride who is not the most traditional and who has a big extended family. If you’d rather not have your wedding at the local catering hall or a rustic barn nearby, consider an airplane hangar. It’s edgy, out of the box, and the best part? You can decorate the space in any way you’d like! Take a minute and just imagine how scenic your wedding photos will be on the runway. And of course, those guests from out of town can fly in and land right at your venue!

Concert rehearsals or private movie sets

“The boss,” also known as music legend Bruce Springsteen, has indeed been known to rent out an airplane hangar at MJC to rehearse before a big show. Since we’re so close to his home turf of Asbury Park, it was the logical thing to do! He had more than enough room for his whole team to set up a mock concert stage.

With that much room and privacy, you could also use one of our hangars as an independent film set. As mentioned above, the space can be customized in any way you’d like. You can build an intricate, sci-fi world like The Hobbit or keep it simple with an outdated workspace like that of The Office. It’s all up to you, director.

Hangar Space Available Now at Monmouth Jet Center!

Monmouth Jet Center has a vast amount of land to build or rent your ideal hangar space in New Jersey. Since converting to 24/7 operations, we never stop working towards expanding our service offerings, including services for our non-aviation clients. MJC expects to continue construction plans for both common use airplane hangars and T-hangars for unconventional uses. No matter what hangar option you choose, our dedicated team will go the extra mile to accommodate your every need!

TURBOPROPS & TWIN PISTONS: KNOW YOUR OPTIONS

We’re huge aircraft enthusiasts at Monmouth Airport. Over the years we’ve enjoyed seeing people experience the luxury and the convenience of private planes, and we welcome all flying enthusiasts to share our passion for traveling and exploring the skies. When choosing your aircraft there are many things to think about, and one decision you’ll need to make is between a turboprop aircraft or a twin piston aircraft. So what are the major differences between these two types of aircraft?

Turboprops

Turboprop aircraft are ideal for journeys that are less than 500 miles, and they can easily land in places considered less accessible like shorter runways and large grass fields. If you’re riding in a turboprop aircraft you can usually land very close to your destination, at a smaller executive airport for example, making the journey more convenient for you.

Compared to jets, turboprops are less expensive – from operating costs to maintenance costs to fuel costs and other expenses, they’re an overall more cost-effective option. Their lower costs are reflected in their size, as most turboprops can hold anywhere from 4 – 8 passengers, but that doesn’t mean they are any less spacious or less comfortable than twin piston planes. You’ll still be able to relax in style as you enjoy the ride.

Twin pistons

Twin piston aircraft can hold up to six passengers, and they’re well-suited for short flights around 300 miles or less. If you’re looking to hop up and down the coast for a long weekend, or take an impromptu vacation at the Jersey Shore, a twin piston may be the best choice. These aircraft usually operate under altitude restrictions, meaning they can only ascend up to a certain point, which is yet another reason that twin pistons are an excellent choice for short trips.

Because twin piston aircraft have two engines, they can reach faster cruise speeds and climb faster than single engine planes. These aircraft can also access shorter runways, similar to turboprops, and they’re able to land at smaller, executive airports like Monmouth Airport.

Invest in your own hangar space

Whichever type of aircraft you determine is the best for you, one thing is certain – having your own hangar space is a very worthy investment. Many large commercial airports do have aircraft hangars, but the waiting list can be long and you’re not guaranteed a spot. Choose a smaller executive airport and enjoy the convenience, your own hangar space, and on-site, around-the-clock aircraft maintenance.

For more information about Monmouth Executive Airport, including custom hangar space and aircraft maintenance, please contact us today. Discover why so many people choose Monmouth Airport as their preferred executive airport. We look forward to hearing from you.

CAN PRIVATE JETS LAND ANYWHERE?

Private jets come with many perks: you can fly at your convenience and determine your own take-off time, you don’t have waste hours standing around the boarding gate, you don’t have to check your luggage or worry about lost bags, and you’ll have complete privacy for the duration of your flight. But one question lots of people have is, can private jets land anywhere?

The answer isn’t as straightforward as a simple yes or no, so let’s explore some different scenarios and preferences:

Private jets can land at large commercial airports, but there may be long waits. Hundreds of flights land at major airports like JKF and LaGuardia every single day, and private jets are often required to wait before landing. So, while private jets can land at busy commercial airports like these, most people prefer to use smaller, private airports like Monmouth Airport because they’re less likely to experience delays.

Many pilots prefer landing at smaller executive airports because they’re more efficient. Flying a private jet means you’re responsible for paying fuel, ramp, and landing charges. Commercial airports are often more expensive, so there’s a chance you’ll pay more. Due to congestion, private jets are often rushed off the runway upon landing, adding to the stress of landing at a crowded, busy airport. Using a private airport makes the entire experience more efficient – cheaper fees, you won’t be hurried off the runway, and you won’t experience congestion upon landing.

Executive airports have amenities that commercial airports don’t have. Once you land your private jet, you need somewhere to store it until you’re ready to fly again. There are often long waiting lists for hangar space at busy commercial airports, and their fees can be expensive. Smaller executive airports like Monmouth Airport have affordable aircraft hangars with no wait time, making it convenient for you.

The benefits of having your own hangar space

Having your own hangar space comes with many benefits. Unlike landing at busy commercial airports, when you have your own hangar space at an executive airport you know there’s always a space for you. You can take off and land at your own convenience, and you’ll never need to put your name on a waiting list. Also, many private airports also have on-site aircraft maintenance teams who will service your aircraft and keep it in prime condition.

For more information about Monmouth Executive Airport and the many perks we provide, including custom hangar space and aircraft maintenance, please contact us today. Discover why so many people choose Monmouth Airport as their preferred executive airport. We look forward to hearing from you.

5 QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR CHARTER BROKER

Private jet charter brokers act as the middle person between you and private jet companies, and they’re responsible for a variety of things including arranging aircraft leases, finding you the best private jet for your needs, and helping to book flights, to name a few. At Monmouth Airport we recommend doing a bit of research before deciding on a charter broker, because choosing a private jet is a big decision and safety is of the utmost importance. Here are five questions to ask potential charter brokers that’ll help you pick the best one for you:

  • How long have you been in business? You want a broker who can demonstrate longevity in the industry, because their knowledge and experience will be a valuable part of the brokering process.
  • Can you share your client reviews? Ideally, you’ll choose a charter broker who has a proven track record of satisfied clients. In addition to reading reviews the broker gives you, it’s worth your time to do your own internet searches and check independent review sites to get an idea of people’s experiences.
  • What accreditations and industry memberships do you have? You want a broker whose company has gone through voluntary accreditation programs because it shows they take their job seriously. They should also be a member of certain industry organizations like BACANBAA, and EBAA. These organizations have strict standards and being a member of them reflects positively on a company.
  • Can you tell me about your safety standards? Safety is of the utmost importance, and reputable charter brokers abide by the most rigorous safety standards. Ask them to explain how they choose which jet companies to partner with, what their vetting processes are, and any other safety procedures they have.
  • What’s included in the price? When a broker gives you a quote, it’s your responsibility to verify what that quote includes. Some companies include things like taxes and catering fees in their initial quote, while some might not include these costs until after you’ve approved the cost.

Why invest in your own hangar space?

For those who have their own private jets, investing in your own aircraft hangar at a smaller executive airport is certainly worth it. Commercial airports often have long waiting lists, but executive airports like Monmouth Airport can accommodate your aircraft with no wait. Knowing that you always have your own hangar space makes traveling more convenient and less stressful, and you can come and go as you please uninterrupted.

For more information about Monmouth Executive Airport, please contact us today. Discover why so many people in New Jersey choose us for custom hangar space and more. We look forward to hearing from you.

THE MOST EXTREME AIRPORTS IN THE WORLD

The Coronavirus has had a significant impact on air travel in 2020 and for those that love to travel, you may be eager to explore the world again. If getting on an airplane leaves you with knots in your stomach though, you might want to avoid the following five airports and travel elsewhere.

  • Juancho E Yrausquin Airport

A Google search of this airport will come up with the description, “Airport in Hell’s Gate, Caribbean Netherlands.” If the name isn’t enough to put you off, then take heed that this airport boasts an insanely short runway of a meager 400 meters, making it the world’s shortest commercial landing strip. It’s also built on the only flat space on the side of a mountain on a volcanic island, and only specially certified pilots are allowed to land there.

  • Courchevel Airport France

This Altiport serves a ski resort called Courchevel in the picturesque French Alps. It has a short runway of only 518 meters with the highest gradient in the world of 18.6% so taking off or landing is extremely dangerous on such a steep slope. There’s also a no go-around procedure for landings there, due to the surrounding mountains and slopes.

  • Barra International Airport in Scotland

Barra is a wild and windy island with fewer than 1200 inhabitants who speak mostly Gaelic. Their scenic airport is one of a kind because it is the only airport in the world where scheduled flights use a tidal beach as the runway, which literally disappears at high tide. Obviously, airlines follow a strict schedule and only land in very particular weather conditions but it rates as one of the world’s most beautiful airport landings and draws tourists and aviation enthusiasts from all over.

  • Gisborne Airport New Zealand

Gisborne Airport is located 4.2km from the city center of Gisborne on the East Coast of the North Island of New Zealand. It is unique because it is one of the few airports in the world that has a railway line crossing the main runway. There needs to be impeccable scheduling between the railway and airlines to avoid collisions. In addition to that, it only has one main runway and 3 grass runways.

  • Princess Juliana International Airport St Marteen

When an airport has to be built to withstand inclement weather like hurricanes and earthquakes, you should not be surprised if you have a bumpy ride. Not great for nervous passengers who hate turbulence. Landing is also somewhat terrifying not only for the people on the plane but also for any relaxing on Maho beach close by as the plane flies extremely low and passes only 10 – 20 meters above the actual beach and any sunbathing on it.

Monmouth Executive Airport in New Jersey offers comfort, convenience, and custom hangar space

If you are looking for an airport that’s comfortable and conveniently located close to New York, Atlantic City, and Philadelphia, look no further than Monmouth Airport. We also offer amenities like hangar space NJ as well as aircraft maintenance NJ  to keep you up in the air and soaring with the eagles.

POST-COVID 19 AIR TRAVEL

The Coronavirus pandemic has left many wondering how and when they will be able to safely travel and visit friends and family that live overseas. Although some domestic airlines are operating again, safety and social distancing are a valid concern and may prove to be quite difficult to implement in busy airport terminals and oftentimes tightly packed commercial planes with small seats and little legroom, to say the least.

Many believe that technology like biometrics might become the new normal at check-ins and security points as it helps to avoid human-to-human contact and the handling of documents back and forth and thus the spreading of germs. Facial recognition as well as fingerprint and eye-scan technology could prove to be the way forward to assist in maintaining social distancing at airports and may also allow for the faster processing of passengers through airport terminals.

Time is money and the time spent to board a commercial aircraft post-COVID 19 could be lengthy considering all the new health and safety protocols that airlines and airports will have to implement. That’s why private aviation is so appealing.

4 reasons why private aviation saves time and poses fewer risks

  • Passengers boarding a private jet spend a lot less time at the airport because the average time from arriving at the airport to boarding your charter plane is less than 15 minutes.
  • Fewer people at the airport mean fewer health and safety procedures thus saving you time, and if we may state the obvious, far fewer passengers on your plane.
  • No queues at immigration, fewer shops (if any) and no need for baggage to be labeled at the check-in counter all mean less human interaction and fewer safety risks for those who simply cannot afford to get sick or who may be in a high-risk category should they get sick from the Coronavirus.
  • Chartering a private jet at Monmouth Jet Center also means you can fly at your own schedule because smaller jets fly faster and higher than commercial airlines and so their flight paths are more direct and they do not compete with larger airlines for airspace.

Monmouth Executive airport offers low-risk travel solutions, custom hangar space in NJ as well as a flight school in NJ

You can even learn to fly NJ at Monmouth airport in New Jersey which is conveniently located just outside of crowded NY area airspace making it one of the safest places to learn to fly and one of the top flight schools in NJ. Enjoy some flying lessons in NJ and experience the thrill of learning to fly NJ in uncrowded airspace and beautiful surroundings.

EVERYTHING YOU’VE ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT PRIVATE AIRPORTS

Private airports, also called executive airports, are becoming more popular as people discover how convenient they are. Despite the luxurious scenes you imagine when you hear the phrase “private airport”, the reality is that executive airports are often similar to commercial airports, the exception being they’re more convenient for a variety of reasons. If you’ve never used a private airport before, you may be wondering what the experience is like.

There’s virtually no waiting

We’re all familiar with flying into and out of commercial airports, and unfortunately, there can be a lot of waiting. From the security line to hanging around at the terminal until it’s time to board, waiting time often accounts for several hours, and that doesn’t even include time spent in the air. At private airports, the plane and the crew will be ready right when you arrive – in fact, they’re often ready even earlier, meaning you don’t lose hours of your day and you don’t need to battle long lines.

Closer to your destination

Private airports are often located much closer to downtown areas, unlike commercial airports which are mostly located in major cities. Being closer to downtown areas means you get to your destination more quickly, and you can even easily visit multiple airports in a single day. Many business travelers prefer to use executive airports for this reason, as it causes minimum disruption to their busy schedules.

Fewer weather-related delays

Everyone has experienced weather-related delays on commercial flights, and these delays can even cause your trip to be postponed for an entire day. At a private airport, once there’s a clear window of weather and it’s safe to fly, you’ll be on your way to your destination.

You don’t need to own a private aircraft to use a private airport

One of the biggest misconceptions about private airports is that they’re only used by people who own private jets, but this is certainly not true. Executive airports across the country offer aircraft rental services, meaning you can rent an aircraft in one city, fly to your destination, and drop it off, giving you the ultimate in convenience and flexibility.

Many private airports also offer flight schools

Executive airports aren’t just an aircraft storage facility. Many also double as flight schools and offer flying lessons for people of all experience levels. So, if you’re interested in learning to fly, check out your local private airport and see if they offer flying lessons.

Enjoy the convenience of executive airports

We’re conveniently located in New Jersey, close to New York, Atlantic City, and Philadelphia, we have affordable hangar space available now, and we have an on-site flight school. To learn more about Monmouth Airport, please contact us today. We look forward to hearing from you.

FIVE STEPS TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT EXECUTIVE AIRPORT

Are you searching for the best executive airport? Choosing the right one will make your travels smoother, more convenient, and can help extend the life of your aircraft. Before making your choice, here are five steps that will help you select the best one for you:

  1. Ensure it’s well connected. The last thing you want to do after a long flight is get in the car for another long journey. The closer your executive airport is to your destination, including major highways, the more convenient it will be for you. For example, if you travel frequently to the Jersey Shore, you’ll want an airport that gives you easy access to the beautiful beaches while also being close to New York, Philadelphia, and Atlantic City.
  2. Choose an airport that has hangar space available for your aircraft now, rather than put your name on a waiting list. Many executive airports won’t have hangar space immediately available for you, and instead they’ll add you to a waiting list with no guarantee as to when they can accommodate you. Not knowing if there’s space for your aircraft makes it difficult to plan your trips, so we recommend selecting an airport that can give you a spot straight away.
  3. Ensure it’s open 24 hours a day. We all experience delays with air travel, but an executive airport that’s open around the clock will be able to accommodate you at all hours. Fuel should also be available on site 24 hours a day in order to maximize convenience and avoid you having to wait.
  4. Choose an airport that has on-site repair, inspection and maintenance services. Keeping your aircraft in premium condition is crucial for your safety and for the life of your aircraft. Having a team of experienced mechanics on-site gives you the ultimate convenience – you can store your aircraft and have it serviced at the same time, so that when you’re ready to leave you know it’s in peak condition.
  5. Ensure there is a rental car service on site. Upon landing you don’t want to have to travel far to pick up your rental car, and an on-site rental car service makes your journey that much easier.

New Jersey-based executive airports

Monmouth Executive Airport is well connected, close to the Jersey Shore and big surrounding cities, and we have hangar space available now. WHY DO PRIVATE JETS AVOID FLYING OVER THE OCEAN?

If you’re looking for hangar space in NJ, at Monmouth Executive Airport we cater to the needs of many different types of aircraft, and we have affordable availability as well as a low-traffic space. In addition, our hangar space is available now, so you won’t have to join a long waiting list while scrambling to find a place to temporarily store your aircraft until a spot opens up.

You may have noticed that private jets sometimes avoid flying over the ocean, choosing instead to follow routes along the coastline. This is partly due to a law put in place by the Federal Aviation Administration, which states that aircraft cannot fly more than 50 nautical miles away from land unless they’re outfitted with certain pieces of equipment, including a life raft and life jackets. For commercial aircraft this equipment is standard, but for private jets it can cause issues with capacity and also with the aesthetics of the aircraft.

Due to other factors like air traffic, private jets often fly along the coastline to make the journey as easy as possible. Many pilots who fly their own aircraft prefer to fly up and down the coast, enjoying emptier skies and routes that aren’t so busy. The last thing you want is to have your trip delayed due to air traffic, or be unable to complete your journey because the skies are too busy.

At Monmouth Executive Airport we have custom hangar space in NJ and are able to accommodate a variety of private aircraft. Our aircraft hangars are ready now – there’s no long waiting list – and we’re conveniently located next to several major cities, as well as near the coastline.

Whether you regularly make quick, two-day trips or you enjoy taking longer flights to more faraway destinations, we’re confident that we have everything you need to store and maintain your aircraft at Monmouth Airport. We’re also proud to offer extremely competitive pricing on fuel, making us the premier aircraft storage center in the greater New Jersey area.

Affordable hangar space at Monmouth Airport

At Monmouth Executive Airport we also have on-site aircraft mechanics who can conduct repair, inspection, and maintenance services for most types of piston aircraft. It’s easy to see why we’re the number one choice for so many aviation enthusiasts in the New Jersey area, and we’re also proud that we have the longest private runway in the country.

We are committed to providing the best aircraft hangers in NJ, and we have common-use hangars, t-hangars, and larger aircraft hangars available to you now. Discover why Monmouth Executive Airport is the best choice for hangar space in NJ. We’re standing by and ready to answer your questions, so please contact us today.
